Our Project in Rancho Arriba, Dominican Republic

Bethel is the name of a child development project in a small mountain village in the Dominican Republic called Rancho Arriba. The children, most under the age of 10, come daily for two meals a day, supplemental education and medical care by a volunteer doctor and nurse, as well as Bible teaching and Christian education.

Three years ago they were renting a small building. Today, with the support of FVC, a new building is in use, and 80+ children are being sponsored monthly by FVC families.

From 2008-2011 work and witness teams travelled twice per year to show their support and continue progress on the building. Without the continued support of FVC and others, many of these children would be unsupervised throughout the day, with nowhere to go because their parents are absent or working long hours in coffee plantations.

The building's dedication ceremony took place in August 2011.
