|

On Sunday, May 9, 2010, Mother's Day, Fairview Village Church sent a team of 90+ individuals to Center City Philadelphia to participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. As our Team Captain, Joni Nelson said, "Maybe if they see that the church cares, they will also know that God cares." Thank you to all those who supported the team! Check out pics from the day here.

At Fairview, we are a missional people who have embraced these three words... Celebrate, Connect, and Care... with an enthusiasm that brings the words to life. Our Care happens over and over again when we reach out with the love of Christ and the Good News of salvation to the world.
A Faith Promise is exactly what is says-a promise made in faith between and individual and God. That promise is based on what the giver believes God wants him or her to give.
In this booklet, you will find just a few of the organizations and missionaries - both global and local - that your Faith Promise giving goes towards supporting throughout the year. In an uncertain economy, we understand that when you give, you look for reassurance that your giving is being used most effectively. Faith Promise is one of the most meaningful methods for supporting missions. Working together with other churches, we can achieve more. As we pool our resources with other churches, we can reach much further cooperatively than we ever could as individual donors.
We kicked off this year's Faith Promise on Sunday, February 7 with special guests, Dan and Michelle Lepley, who provide oversight for the building of our Child Development Center in the Dominican Republic.
Are you ready for the adventure? Are you ready to allow God to show how He can provide when we open our hearts and pocketbooks to do generous things for His Kingdom? Thank you in advance for having a heart that is turned towards God and hands that are turned out to others.

Partners For Families (PFF) is a non-profit Christian organization in Norristown, Pa, dedicated to community transformation through the development and strengthening of families by providing a network of community and faith-based supportive resources.
PFF believes that..."Meaningful collaborations can achieve what individual agencies cannot on their own. We can accomplish this by bridge-building to help unify the community's many churches, organizations, and county and municipal agencies around the common mission of serving Norristown families."
The Akimine Family
Partnership: "A relationship between individuals or groups that is characterized by mutual cooperation and responsibility, as for the achievement of a specified goal". PFF does this by... Serving through the strength of trusting relationships * Helping families by advocating and linking to existing community resources * Mobilizing resources through its network of local congregations and faith-based community partnerships * Serving as an initiator and catalyst for innovative partnerships * Partnering with those who care about the health and vitality of Norristown * Influencing public policy and economic development initiatives that are equitable and non-discriminatory * To transform the community; to change lives; to show that God is active * Bridging the cultural and language barriers by removing the obstacle to cooperation and effective communication between individuals, groups and service agencies.

Rancho Arriba Bethel Child Development Center |
|
Bethel is the name of a new child development project in a small mountain village in the Dominican Republic called Rancho Arriba. The children, most under the age of 10, come daily for two meals a day, supplemental education and medical care by a volunteer doctor and nurse, as well as Bible teaching and Christian education. A year ago, they were renting a small building. Today, with the support of FVC, a new building is underway, and 70 children are being sponsored monthly by FVC families. Each year, work and witness teams travel to work and show their support. There are usually two trips planned each year - one for Winter/Spring and one for Summer. Without the continued support of FVC and others, many of these children would be unsupervised throughout the day, with nowhere to go because their parents are absent or working long hours in coffee plantations.

"What a well planned and organized trip our spring team had in the DR. God showed up in so many amazing ways. Seeing his hand in relationship building of our team and our new friends of Rancho Arriba. God protected us from the rain while we worked, and from diseases and viruses that are rampant in third world countries today. By His grace, we accomplished the wall for the first main floor and started a support pillar for the second. Let us continue to pray for the Lepley family as they lead the team across the DR. God is doing awesome things there... and FVC's support helps feed the heart and soul of this project. " by Chip McKenna
"I thank God for giving me the opportunity to join the Work and Witness team to Rancho Arriba. Seeing the culture brought back memories to me of my own native land the Philippines. The way they live, the need is incredible. And yet the attitudes in their lives are happy, content and always willing to share what they have. Going to Rancho Arriba gave me the opportunity to share my faith and gifts in building relationships in the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ in the D.R.. So, if you have a chance to join one of the Work and Witness teams it will be a life changing experience. I encourage you to consider the opportunity." by Racky Limbauan

Stop the Injustice Teens' Coffeehouse |
|
Written by Erinn Nordeman

On December 13, 2008 in the Chamber's Center, Solomon's Porch hosted a coffeehouse raising money towards stopping injustice in Darfur. Darfur is a region in Sudan where a government is trying to eliminate an entire race of people. Several people came and listened to one of the church's very talented bands, the Steadfast. A silent art auction was also held with drawings, photography, jewelry, fashionable purses, and scarves, all of which was donated by members of the church. During intermission a video slide show made by Joel Limbauan touched every heart in the room.
The evening fell into place after months of anticipation. The idea came from the lesson Solomon's Porch has been focusing on all year: Stopping Injustice, Loving Mercifully, and Walking Humbly Before God. This event was a perfect way to show what the church can do with the resources and talents is has and how we really can change the world, big or small. The event raised over one thousand dollars and opened the eyes of many to the genocide in Darfur.
