"GOD'S INVITATION"

The word "tithe" literally means a tenth (of our income, that is). In Malachi 3: 10 God basically says, "Go ahead. I dare you. See if you can out-give me." Is God wise? Do you trust him? These are two fundamental questions behind the act of giving. If God is wise, then you should listen to what he says about financial stewardship. If you trust him, then you should trust him with all aspects of your life, including your finances. Accept God's invitation to put him to the test. The Bible says that the purpose of tithing is to teach us always to put God first in our lives. (Deuteronomy 14: 23) Tithing is a reminder that God is the supplier of everything we have. It is also God's personal invitation to an outpouring of his blessing in your life. So go ahead. Accept God's invitation to put him to the test.  Start tithing faithfully and see what God does in and through your life. Watch the blessings pour out.

"LOVE GOD.  LOVE OTHERS.  EVEN WITH MY FINANCES."

"When it's upside down, money controls people and can destroy lives.  It's the #1 cause of divorce, a top level stress contributor and common cause of suicide.  However, when it is right side up, money is a tool of a generous life helping people grow closer to God and each other."   It's a reflection of your heart-Matthew 6: 19-20; It's a privilege-2 Corinthians 8: 2-4; It's faith in action-Acts 4: 32-35

"WHY SHOULD I GIVE?"

As you give more generously, you more fully reflect God's life in you, for God is a giver (James 1: 17).  You testify to His ownership of all that is yours to control (2 Corinthians 8: 1-5).  You reflect where your treasure is (Matthew 6: 19-21).  You show your complete trust in Him to supply for your needs (Philippians 4: 17-19).  You reap eternal benefits (I Timothy 6: 18-19).  And, most importantly, you bring Him glory (2 Corinthians 9: 13).

Want to hear some TESTIMONIES OF REAL LIFE FAITHFUL GIVING?

"Sue & I (Mike)  have been coming to FVCN since 2002. We have always given money to the churches we attended, and God has always blessed our family financially. And, honestly, we didn't come close to giving all that we could have.

But something happened at Fairview Village that never occurred at any other church we've ever attended. We came to know the love God has for us and the       miracles He works in our lives and the lives of others. I won't even begin to tell you the miracles He has blessed Sue and I with seeing and experiencing in our life and the lives of others in this church because it would require a lot of writing. The key to these miracles was, and still is, faith. Faith that if we give our lives to God, He will take our burdens and bless our lives.

Faith is all that is required to understand that we will be blessed when we tithe. All I can tell anyone is that the more money we gave back to God, who blesses us in all things, the better our lives have become. All that is good comes from God, so I have to attribute this better life to God.

There is great faith in giving back to God a portion of what He has given us. And whenever we express great faith, God blesses us abundantly. And once again, God has surely blessed Sue and I through the ability to tithe and attend the God loving Fairview Village Church." Written by Mike Anderson, Winter 2010

"My name is Rich Gross and I have been attending FVC for almost four years, along with my wife, Diane.  About 18 months ago, I found myself unemployed for the first time in my life, along with millions around the country.  Fear set in as our family income was cut in half.  I spent countless hours sending hundreds of resumes with little or no response.  I felt frustration and depression taking control of my life.  I was overwhelmed with worry, wondering if we would be able to pay our bills, our mortgage, etc.

My wife and I had taken the 90 day tithe challenge, and became dedicated to making our church offering a priority in our life.  We had to make changes in our spending, reducing expenditures where we could.  However, we did not waiver on our  commitment to our church and our offering to God.  While I was unemployed, I was receiving calls from friends and neighbors to do some odd jobs around their homes.  Each time it seemed like my wife and I were getting to a point where money would be tight, I would receive another call - another opportunity.  God was working the whole time.  I prayed for an answer, trying to find out what God had planned for me.  I kept praying and waiting.  The men in my small group prayed with me, and were always there for me when times got tough.

I was struggling with the fact that I no longer controlled financial circumstances in my life.  I prayed constantly, asking God to take away the stress and worry.  It took me some time to realize how much God was already working in my life.  God blessed with me the opportunity to go to Rancho Arriba in August 2009 and February 2010.  The trips were nothing short of life-changing.  I made new friends and realized how fulfilling it is to serve God and his people.  Marquetta also kept me busy with some volunteer work, which helped fill my days and my heart.   I know there must be a blessing somewhere in becoming the 'snow captain' for the church this past winter.

I am pleased to say that God has answered my prayers once again.  I have been back to work for over two weeks.  While I am happy to be employed, I am so grateful for the experiences and blessings I have had over the past 18 months and thank you FVC for all of your prayers!  God provides - we just need to trust him.  On Sunday mornings, my wife and I give with a grateful heart, as we sit in church with our daughter and her family, who now attend FVC."
