Care urges us to serve each other and our world. We volunteer with excitement and enthusiasm in all the different areas of our local church because it shows we care about each other. We reach out when someone among us is at a loss or hurting because it displays the heart of Christ. Ultimately, we go beyond ourselves to live out the gospel in caring acts to those God has placed around us. We seek out people in need here and abroad to show them the love of Jesus and support mission efforts, both locally and globally.

Be the Church
Periodically our entire congregation goes out in groups as part of our "Be the Church" campaign. We travel to various locations in the area to show our community how much we care. From helping the homeless in Philadelphia, to sprucing up a facility for special needs' children, to repairing a home for a senior adult, the opportunities to help our neighbors are endless.

GLOBAL
Faith Promise
We participate in an annual Missions Giving called Faith Promise. Faith Promise is one of the most meaningful methods for supporting missions. It is not a pledge. A Faith Promise is exactly what it says...a promise made in faith between an individual and God. That promise is based on what the giver believes God wants him or her to give to ministries beyond those of the local church. Giving through Faith Promise is an adventure and an opportunity to allow God to show how He can provide when we open our hearts and our pocketbooks to do generous things for His Kingdom. Most people arrive at their Faith Promise amount following time in prayer and Bible reading. By listening to the voice of God, we learn what the Holy Spirit wants to do through us to support the mission ministries of our church. To learn more about 2011-2012 Missions, click here.

Philadelphia Urban Missions, 2011
The Philadelphia Urban Missions has been a vital ministry of the Philadelphia District Church of the Nazarene for over ten years. One important aspect of the Philadelphia Urban Missions is compassionate ministry, through organizations such as Front Step, Inc. and Word in Action, International. They serve the community tangibly, as well as spiritually, through physical, financial and relational resources. These programs are effective… but only if basic physical needs are being met. And currently, the Philadelphia Church of the Nazarene Urban Missions is struggling to meet the basic need of hunger. The population of elderly, unemployed and under employed seems to be on the rise, yet resources are becoming more and more scarce. Philadabundance, the region’s largest hunger relief organization, has reduced grants due to their lack of funding. This drastic reduction in grants has had a major impact on the ability for organizations like Front Step, Inc. and Word in Action International to assist those in need. Fairview Village Church wants to help by restocking the empty shelves of Philadelphia’s food pantries. We will be collecting food for Philadelphia Urban Missions during Advent 2011. Non–perishable food items will be bcollected in the lobby then placed in a large storage bins outside in the parking lot. Food will be collected from November 13 until January 1.
Rancho Arriba, 2008-2011
Bethel is the name of a new child development project in a small mountain village in the Dominican Republic called Rancho Arriba. The children, most under the age of 10, come daily for two meals a day, supplemental education, and medical care by a volunteer doctor and nurse, as well as Bible teaching and Christian education. Three years ago, they were renting a small building. Today, with the support of FVC, a new building was created, and nearly 90 children are being sponsored monthly by FVC families. The Center was dedicated in August 2011. Learn more about Rancho Arriba here.
Share Your Soles, 2010
Imagine a child painting tar on their bare foot because they didn't have shoes, living in desperately impoverished area of the world. Well, we couldn't imagine hearing that and NOT doing something about it. So, as part of our annual Advent giving program, we collected and shipped nearly 5,000 gently-used shoes for men, women, and children.
Living Water International, 2009
The global water crisis does not make media headlines, despite the fact that it claims more lives through disease than any war claims through guns. Unlike natural disasters, it does not rally concerted international action, despite the fact that more people die each year from drinking dirty water than from the world’s hurricanes, floods, tsunamis, and earthquakes combined. The caring people at Fairview Village Church wanted to make a difference... a sustainable difference that would change lives forever. Together, we raised over $30,000 to provide 9 clean water wells in Southern India.
Help for Haiti, 2009
After the devastating Earthquake in 2009, we raised over $15,000 to help those suffering from loss. We also had several folks involved in coordinating tent collections, and even using their skills to help fly small planes shipping supplies.
